1960's WIGAN AREA STEAM
     
Being born in Southsea and living in Plymouth for most of my life, why Wigan? With my father being an ex Springs Branch fireman, it was here that I was first introduced to the railways while on holiday by my Dad, during his period of leave from the Royal Navy. Although my memories are a little vague, I was facinated by the amount of activity at this location, with the endless passenger and freight movement on all the lines around Springs Branch, plus the coming and goings from the shed.
